It’s really strange to hear your voice coming from another room. Recently that happened so I jumped up thinking that guy sounds just like me on TV! It was a short video clip about Georgetown Heights in Van Alstyne, TX. I had forgotten it but awhile back I attended a Realtor open house by the builder DR Horton and was interviewed for the TV program, Hot On Homes.
I had no idea it was on so I was quite taken aback but it did refresh my memory on why the Van Alstyne area is such a great place to live. It’s like a little Mayberry that is close to everything you need in the big cities but you still have the feeling that Andy and Opie could say hello at any moment. Aunt Bee could be baking fried pies at the Sweetie Pies by Karen in the town square.
Georgetown Heights is one of our newer neighborhoods with modern homes built by DR Horton and others. There are still new homes being built so check it out. They range from the 150s to 250s at about 1600 to 3000 sf. The neighborhood is adjacent to the fantastic Forrest Moore Park and the Van Alstyne Elementary School. If you have older children in the Van Alstyne ISD the entrance to Georgetown is right on Highway 5 which will take you to the middle and high schools less than 3 miles away.
Van Alstyne is perfectly located just 18 miles north of the rapidly growing McKinney area and about the same distance to the south is the Grayson County seat, Sherman, TX. Within an hours or so drive you have access to DFW airport, casinos and about eight area lakes Recreation opportunities abound with Lake Texoma so close and Oklahoma only across the Red River. Like most rural areas in transition you have the both older and newer homes, subdivisions and acreage, and the people you meet may be in suits or overalls with most leaning toward the casual vs. the suit and ties.
